Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I keep up-to-date during the Thirst trip?

Follow our accounts on social media! Our handle on both Twitter and Instagram is @hvstudents. Our staff/leaders will not be posting on their personal accounts during the week. This greatly simplifies the flow of communication.

  • Does my student need to bring money with them on the trip? Which meals are covered under the trip cost?

Students will not need money for meals. If students wish to purchase snacks, souvenirs, or other items outside of the provided meals, they can bring money for those instances.

  • Can my student bring his/her cell phone?

Yes! However, we will limit the usage of their phones while on the trip. We do not want them texting, Instagramming, SnapChatting, FaceTiming, Pinteresting, or —ing anything while we are supposed to be serving! We understand life changing circumstances may occur where you may need to reach your student(s). This is why we will provide a detailed list for contact information. The students will also be allowed to have their phones during the free time just before bed at the church. At the time of lights out, the leader for that room will come by and charge the students’ phones in their own room overnight.

  • What if my student brings medication?

All medication on the trip will be self-regulated. Highview will not be responsible for medicating your student. We are more than happy to provide medication reminders. Whichever leader is over your student’s room will be made aware of any medication that must be taken. It is the student’s responsibility to keep up with and take any/all medication while on the trip.
