Day 1

Scripture to Read: Luke10:25

At first glance, the question that the lawyer asked Jesus in Luke 10:25 seems like the type of question we would love for someone to ask us. Imagine being in the grocery store, or standing in the hallway in school, or being outside in your neighborhood, and someone asks you, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” First, we must ask ourselves, “Would I know how to answer this person?” If our answer is no, then we need to memorize Genesis 1:31, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Proverbs 14:12, John 3:16, Acts 3:19, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Philippians 2:13, Romans 10:9-10, and Romans 10:13 so we can effectively share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by using the 3 Circles presentation. Now, let us not miss something else here in Luke 10:25. God tells us that this lawyer, who, by the way, would have been an expert in the Law of Moses, asked Jesus this question to test Jesus. In other words, this lawyer really was not looking for an answer on how to inherit eternal life; he was only trying to discredit our Lord. What this lawyer did not know was that He was talking to the One who gave Moses the words to write His Law in the first five books of the Old Testament. If we really want answers to our questions, we too must ask our Lord and search His Word, for His Truth will set us free (John 8:31-32).

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about sharing Him and finding truth through Him and His Word? 2. Who will you share Him with this week?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

As we saw in yesterday’s devotion, a lawyer, an expert in Mosaic Law, came to Jesus with a question about how to inherit eternal life. Most of us would love for evangelism to be that easy, that people would just walk up to us and ask us how to inherit eternal life. But, since this lawyer was an expert in Mosaic Law, Jesus did not answer the l...

Day 3

Today we examine Luke 10:28, as Jesus qualifies for us, and for the lawyer who came to Him, what it takes to inherit eternal life. As we know from Luke 10:27, the lawyer had given his answer back to Jesus that loving God and loving people was what God’s Law said. Jesus then tells the lawyer, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will ...

Day 4

As we are unpacking Luke 10 this week, we have learned that loving God and loving people are the two greatest commandments that God has given us. We have also learned that loving God with all our being (all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength) and loving our neighbor as ourselves is the real test of us being followers of our Lord Jesus Chr...

Day 5

Today we begin to look at Jesus’s parable of “The Good Samaritan.” Jesus shared this parable with the lawyer because of the lawyer’s question, “And who is my neighbor?”, as the lawyer had tried to justify himself before Jesus. Remember that Jesus had told the lawyer to live according to the answer the lawyer had given to Jesus, which was to l...

Day 6

God’s Word is so powerful, and God feeds us through His Word so we can actively live our lives for Him each day. As we continue to look at the parable “The Good Samaritan,” we find today that Jesus also mentions a Levite who came upon the person who had been robbed, beaten, and left for dead. Jesus mentions the Levite because Levites used thi...

Day 7

Today our focus is on the “Good Samaritan.” Jesus chose to use the “Good Samaritan” as an example because the Jews hated the Samaritans and the Jews were hated by the Samaritans.
