Day 3

Scripture to Read: 1 Peter 4:7

We will take one more day to focus on what God is communicating to us in 1 Peter 4:7. When we live with the HIGH expectation of Christ’s return, we will intently focus on three areas of our spiritual walk with our Lord. These three areas are not in chronological order, for each of these is vital to our walk and growth with our Lord. First, we’ll be sure to be consistent in our daily disciplined prayer time. Developing our deep fellowship with our Lord is so important. God mentions prayer four different times in Ephesians 6:18 because He knows, as we lay all of the saints before His throne of grace, how critical prayer is to our lives and to the lives of those for whom we’re praying. Other Scriptures to read are Philippians 4:6, Colossians 4:2, and 1 Thessalonians 5:17. God is serious about prayer. Second, we must spend daily time in His Word, preparing ourselves for the spiritual battles we face each day. God has given us His Word to defeat the temptations we face as the enemy wages war against us. Be sure to read Psalms 119:9–11, Ephesians 6:17, James 1:25, and Hebrews 4:12 to understand better how powerful God’s Word is for our daily victories. Third, each day, we must be prepared to share our Lord Jesus Christ with those who doubt or do not know Him yet as their Lord and Savior. God reminds us in 1 Peter 3:15 and Colossians 4:6 the importance of sharing Him.

Challenge & Application

· How would you say you are doing in the three critical areas of your daily walk with our Lord? · Which of the three areas discussed today do you need to spend more time in, and how do you plan to do it?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

This week we focus on 1 Peter 4:7–11, as God speaks to us about several different areas of our lives and how we must submit to Him and walk in obedience to Him. God says, in 1 Peter 4:7, The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. When God led Peter to write this, as we know, the ...

Day 2

We continue to unpack 1 Peter 4:7 today as God speaks to us about our prayer life. We know our Lord Jesus will come back for His church one day very soon. It could even be today, but too many people live with little or zero expectations of Christ’s return. Even within the body of believers, many have lost focus on their intimate fellowship wi...

Day 4

We know that God’s greatest commandment is to love Him with ALL our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Matthew 22:37–40). Of course, the second greatest command is to love our neighbor as ourselves. Therefore, we should not be surprised that God tells us, in 1 Peter 4:8, that above everything else we do, we must continually stay intensely passi...

Day 5

As we read 1 Peter 4:9, we see that God is challenging all believers to show hospitality toward each other. To be hospitable means we choose to be welcoming, helpful, neighborly, warm-hearted, or kind-hearted. For some people, showing hospitality comes easy because they have the gift of hospitality. Now, just because we do not have the gift o...

Day 6

God gets specific in 1 Peter 4:10–11 about sharing Him with others. As we discussed in yesterday’s devotion, God has given us physical gifts to meet our needs and to help meet the needs of others. Today, God points out that He has also given us spiritual gifts to serve in His Kingdom, carrying out the work He has for us to do, and that it is ...

Day 7

We read in 1 Peter 4:11 a couple of examples of the spiritual gifts God gives to people and how those gifts are to be used for Him. First, God deals with how we communicate with our words. Communication today can be done by speaking, texting, using different types of social media, or even signing for the hearing impaired. No matter what kind ...
