Day 7

Scripture to Read: Acts 2:37–41

God ends our week with incredibly encouraging news through Acts 2:37–41. God’s Word, according to Hebrews 4:12, is ”living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing,” God used His Word, through Peter, to penetrate the hearts of the people in Jerusalem. Then the people asked Peter and the other apostles this awesome question, “Brethren, what shall we do?” When God’s Word pierces the hearts and souls of mankind, they will always respond. Sometimes the response is anger and hatred, but often it’s a response of need and wanting answers to their need. God had Peter respond with the only solution that would meet their soul's need for life (Acts 2:38–39),...“Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” Peter’s response is the one we must be ready to give every time we have the opportunity to share the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ with those who have not yet surrendered to Him as Lord. We do not know what else God had Peter share, but we do know this from Acts 2:40, And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation!” Peter kept preaching, and the people responded, and “there were added about three thousand souls” that day. To God be the glory!

Day 2

In Acts 2, God came in the power of His Holy Spirit to set free everyone enslaved to sin. God fulfilled His promise to send a Helper (John 14:16, John 14:26, John 15:26, John 16:7) so all His children could live fully for Him. Through His Holy Spirit, God gives every soul rest (Matthew 11:29) who surrenders to Christ as Lord. God does miracul...

Day 3

When God goes to work, He chooses to use His children to carry out His work. God came through His Holy Spirit, and the crowd was gathered. Some wondered while others mocked and when the mocking began, God gave Peter His boldness to speak (Acts 2:14–15). God had Peter first answer those who mocked the disciples as being drunk with wine. Peter ...

Day 4

Yesterday, we saw how God used Peter to refute those who thought the disciples were drunk at 9:00 AM. Peter told the people that he and the rest of the disciples of Christ were filled with God’s Holy Spirit. God used Peter to shar...

Day 5

We are only going to focus on one verse today because of the incredible message contained in this verse. As God used Peter to preach to the people in Jerusalem, he continued in Acts 2:24 by sharing, “But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.” God the Father rais...

Day 6

God loves to reveal to us how His Word is one continuous story about Him as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As we continue to walk through Acts 2, today we focus on the rest of the sermon God had Peter preach to the people in Jerusalem. In Acts 2:25–36, God had Peter quote from Psalms 16:8–11, knowing that Psalm 16 was a prophecy about our Lord...
