Day 5

Scripture to Read: Acts 2:47

As God worked in the lives of all the new believers, He continued to change the lives of people around them. We read in Acts 2:47, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. We know from Acts 2:46 that the new believers shared their meals with great joy and generosity together. So, we see in Acts 2:47 that out of the overflow of their joy, the new believers also praised God together, and God gave them favor with the people around them. God loves when we praise Him privately and together with other believers. Praising God should be a regular part of every day as we recognize God’s work in us and through us. The book of Psalms is a great book to lead us to praise our Lord. The word “praise” is used 147 times in the book of Psalms. Psalms 150:1–6 uses the word “praise” thirteen times, so though it is the last of the Psalms, it’s a great place to start. As we praise God, people see the difference God makes in our lives, and they know our lives are built on Him and not this world. As people saw the changed lives of the new believers in Acts 2, God used those new believers to share Christ with the people around them, and “the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.” God wants to use us in this same way as we praise Him together.

Challenge & Application

· Praising our Lord is an important part of our daily lives, so how are you practicing praising our Lord each day? · Sharing Christ with those around us is what God has called us to do, so how are you sharing Him with others?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

The last set of devotions was incredibly encouraging as we saw God use Peter and the other disciples, who had been filled with His Holy Spirit, to lead over 3,000 souls to surrender to Christ as Lord. So, as the church of our Lord Jesus Christ began, let us examine what the people did. We read in Acts 2:42, They were continually devoting them...

Day 2

Think about the last time you were in absolute awe of what God has done, or is doing, or what you know He’s going to do in the future. Now, if it was challenging to come up with something, it’s not that God is not working miraculously every day; it’s because we miss His handiwork due to allowing ourselves to be distracted by the garbage the w...

Day 3

God changes every follower of Christ drastically (John 3:3, Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:17) because He comes to dwell in every Christian through His Holy Spirit. Sometimes the change is immediately evident to everyone, and sometimes the change takes more time. It’s not that God does not do the same transformational work in each person; it’s t...

Day 4

Yesterday, we discussed God’s transformational work in every believer's life. God continues to show us how the new believers in the first church were growing. We read in Acts 2:46, Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of hea...

Day 6

God loves to carry out His work through us. We know God has called us to His work because He confirms it over and over again in His Word. We should never ask if we are called to serve in God’s Kingdom. But what we should ask God is that He not let us miss the work He has for us to accomplish each day. In Acts 3:1–6, we see Peter and John on t...

Day 7

The gift Peter and John offered this lame man was the gift of walking. It’s hard for us to imagine what went through this lame man’s mind, but since God had already been performing miracles through the apostles (Acts 2:43), more than likely, the lame man had heard some of the reports about these miracles. So, the lame man did not question Pet...
