Day 6

Scripture to Read: Colossians 2:1–3

God had Paul share with the believers in Colossae about his struggle, as we read this in Colossians 2:1–3, “For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Though Paul had not been to Colossae, he was led by God to write to them. God wanted those believers in Colossae to know that Paul struggled for them, for all of the believers in Laodicea, and for all other believers who had never seen Paul face-to-face. God used Paul to encourage their hearts and remind them that they had all been knit together through Christ and His selfless love. We have been knit together the same way with all believers who have gone before us and who are present today. God also did not (and still does not) want any believer to miss out on all the riches that come from the full assurance of understanding the joy of our salvation through Christ. When we understand all that Christ has done for us, it leads to a deeper, more intimate knowledge of Christ. Finally, God had Paul remind us all that in Christ are hidden “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

Day 1

When suffering for the cause of Christ is talked about, not many Christians jump up and say they are ready for it all. As God led Paul to write to the church in Colossae, he was actually writing this letter from a Roman prison. Paul knew what it meant to suffer for the cause of Christ, and he was willing to suffer if it meant that others woul...

Day 2

God had Paul mention “the church” in Colossians 1:24. The body of Christ is His church (Ephesians 1:22–23, Colossians 1:18) and Christ uses His church (His body) to fulfill His ministry—that is why Christ told us, as His followers, not to be surprised when we suffer. The world hated Christ, and we represent Him; therefore, the world is going ...

Day 3

Just as God called Paul, He has called every follower of Christ to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). What God has called us to share was kept a mystery for many years. We read this in Colossians 1:26–27, “that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, 27 to whom God willed to ...

Day 4

When we consider that God chooses to use us to carry out His will each day, it is truly amazing and wonderful. God does not need us, but He chooses to invite us to be a part of His perfect plan. Part of God’s plan is that we be His witnesses, and we know that is part of His plan since Jesus told us this in Acts 1:8: “but you will receive powe...

Day 5

Living for our Lord is hard work, but it’s also the most enjoyable and fulfilling because we are serving our Lord and He’s using us to carry out His perfect will. As God continued to use Paul to write His Word, we read in Colossians 1:29, “For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.” God had...

Day 6

Day 7

There have been false teachers for thousands of years because Satan and the spiritual forces of wickedness use lost people to seek to “blind the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4). So, God had Paul write this in Colossians 2:4–5, “I s...
