Day 7

Scripture to Read: Genesis 5:25-32

It’s interesting that there is a Lamech mentioned in Genesis 4 in the line of Cain. This Lamech boasts of murder and his self-proclaimed belief of God’s protection. This Lamech is the only person in the lineage of Cain whose words are recorded – speaking of vengeance, arrogance, and murder. Then, in Genesis 5 we have another Lamech mentioned, but this Lamech is in the line of Seth, not Cain. Ironically, the only words recorded in the entire genealogy in Genesis 5 are the words of Lamech, just like it happened in Genesis 4 with that Lamech. But the Lamech in Genesis 5 says this about his son Noah: Genesis 5:29 “Out of the ground that the Lord has cursed, this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the painful toil of our hands.” These are beautiful words of hope, rest, and liberation. God allowed Lamech, in Genesis 5, to see how God would use Noah for His glory. God’s redeeming power has always been displayed through simple men and women who are faithful to our Lord. One by one, down through the ages, men and women have been used by God to accomplish His purposes, for His glory. From unfaithful Cain to faithful Seth, God was working to provide for mankind’s redemption. We know our Redeemer is our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to serve and give His life as a payment for all mankind (Mark 10:45). God has been sharing His Good News with us since the beginning of creation. Let’s make sure we continue to share this Good News with all.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about how He has used, and continues to use, people to share His story of redemption? 2. How are you sharing God’s story of redemption with the people God brings across your path each day?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

As we begin our walk through Genesis 5 this week, we’ll see how God gives a great reminder of His goodness and that He’s always faithful. Although Genesis 5 is a long genealogy, we need to always remind ourselves that all of God’s Word is God-breathed and incredibly profitable. God tells us this in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, All Scripture is breathed...

Day 2

In Genesis 5, God continues to show us where we began. Remember, these are our generations all the way back to Adam. It’s interesting that in Genesis 5, God starts back at the beginning again. The reason for starting over is because God began a new branch with the birth of Seth. As we study God’s Word, we find that Seth is in the lineage of o...

Day 3

As we continue our journey through Genesis 5, we find a few verses that stand out among the rest. God gave us the genealogy from Adam, then Seth, and so on. When we get to Genesis 5:21-24, we find something different than what God shared about the others in this genealogy. God shared this in Genesis 5:21-24, When Enoch had lived 65 years, he ...

Day 4

We continue to look at Enoch and what an incredible example he was and still is to all who seek to walk with our Lord. God not only has Enoch mentioned here in Genesis 5, but then God makes sure the writer of Hebrews mentions Enoch in the “hall of faith” in Hebrews 11. What we have to see in Genesis 5:24 is that because Enoch walked with God,...

Day 5

Today, we continue to look at Enoch and what a godly example he was and still is to all believers today. We know that Enoch never tasted death because God tells us in Genesis 5:24 that “God took him.” There are only TWO people in Scripture who never tasted death. Enoch was the first and Elijah was the second. We know this because God tells us...

Day 6

As we finish up with Enoch today, we need to know a little bit more about how God used him. We find Enoch also mentioned in Jude 1:14-15. Here is what God’s Word says about Enoch in the book of Jude, It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His holy ones, 15 t...
