Day 5

Scripture to Read: Romans 14:7–9

We learned yesterday that worship is about honoring our Lord. As believers, we must practice His presence in our lives by worshipping Christ daily. God finished Romans 14:6 by circling back to eating. The key is that every believer gives thanks to God for what we eat or don’t eat. Either way, we honor Him! That is why God had Paul continue to write in Romans 14:7–8, “For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself; 8 for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.” What a great reminder that God gave us life and that we are here because He chose for us to be physically born. We also know there will come a day when God will call us home and for Christians, that will be an incredibly joyous day. God wants every believer to continually remember that we belong to Him, whether we are here on earth or at home in heaven. That is why Christ’s death and resurrection are so beautiful. Through Christ’s death, when we surrender to Him as Lord, we are buried with Him, and our “old man” is crucified with Him (see Romans 6:3–6). Through Christ’s resurrection, we are raised to new life in Christ. God explains it this way in Romans 14:9, For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. Christ is Lord of all.

Challenge & Application

· How are you honoring God daily through what you think, say, and do? · What does it mean to you to know that Christ has made you brand new and that He is your Lord at all times?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

This week, God will challenge us on how we judge each other as believers. God had Paul begin by writing this in Romans 14:1, "Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions.” So, God began laying out how to deal with those who were weak in faith. There are two types of people within God’s ...

Day 3

God had Paul write in Romans 14:4, “Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.” God reminds us that He is the Judge and the One who approves us. Remember, God is challenging us this week about not judging each other. Don’t think that God is tell...

Day 4

God is challenging us as His children to guard against judging each other over issues that are not that important. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who...

Day 6

There was a problem in the early church between the Jews who had surrendered to Christ and the Gentiles who had surrendered to Christ. The believing Jews had been taught, through God’s Word in the Old Testament, about things that were clean and unclean. For example, God had taught them the importance of circumcision and that circumcision was ...

Day 7

As we close out this week, we have seen how God challenged us on what we hold our brothers and sisters in Christ accountable for and why we should not judge them. Today, God reminds us of another one of His incredible Truths in Romans 14:11–12, “For it is written, ‘As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall g...
