Day 7

Scripture to Read: Romans 16:21–27

As we come to a close on the book of Romans, we find that Paul had a helper in writing this letter to the Romans, and that helper was Tertius. The fact that God allowed Tertius to let everyone know he was writing this letter reminds us that everyone in the body of Christ has an important ministry to fulfill. God did not just call a few to the ministry, but He has called every believer to the ministry (Ephesians 2:10, Titus 2:14, Titus 3:8, Titus 3:14). The only difference is that God has called some believers to be “equippers of the saints” (Ephesians 4:11–16). Those equippers help prepare all other believers to do the work of the ministry that God has called each one to do to serve in the body of Christ. God had Paul close out reminding all of us that He is the one who establishes and strengthens us in our faith in Him. Our faith is strengthened through the tests and trials of this life. We also see that the fullness of God’s Good News was kept hidden for a while but that His mystery has been made known through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:10–12, Romans 16:25, Matthew 13:35, Romans 11:25, 1 Corinthians 2:1, 1 Corinthians 2:7, 1 Corinthians 4:1, Ephesians 1:9, Ephesians 3:3, Ephesians 3:9, Ephesians 6:19, Colossians 1:26–29, Colossians 2:2, Colossians 4:3, 1 Timothy 3:16). The secret is out, so share Him today.

Challenge & Application

· Since you are a part of the body of Christ, how well are you serving so that the body of our Lord is healthy? · How have the equippers prepared you for ministry, and in what ministries are you serving?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

It has always been our Lord’s desire that His body, all believers, be united in Him and love each other as He has loved us (John 13:34–35, John 17:22–23, Philippians 2:1–2). In Romans 16:1–16, God led Paul to mention several of the believers he had ministered with and who had ministered to him in his times of need. It’s truly a beautiful pict...

Day 2

As God showed us yesterday, the believers that God used in Paul’s life, both to serve him and to serve our Lord within His church, were to be greeted, commended, gladly received in a manner worthy of the saints, helped in whatever manner was needed, and even greeted with a holy kiss. So again, yesterday, we were challenged to encourage the be...

Day 3

As beautiful as the descriptions were of the Christians who served our Lord in Paul’s day in the last two days’ devotions, we find a word of caution today in Romans 16:17. God led Paul to write, “17 Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away f...

Day 4

We continue today, picking up where we left off yesterday, about dealing with people who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to God’s Holy Word. In Romans 16:18, God led Paul to write, “For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the uns...

Day 5

We only have three more days in our study of Romans. God has taught us so much over the last several months, and it’s a great reminder of how rich a treasure God’s Word is for us every day. God had Paul write this in Romans 16:19, “For the report of your obedience has reached to all; therefore I am rejoicing over you, but I want you to be wis...

Day 6

As we finish the end of Romans 16:19, God had Paul write about making sure the believers were wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil. First, we must know that God reveals all that is good to us. God does this through His wisdom found through our relationship with Christ and His Word (1 Corinthians 1:24, 1 Corinthians 1:30, Co...
