Day 2

Scripture to Read: Romans 8:19

God speaks of His wondrous creation today as we read Romans 8:19. God has Paul tell us that His entire creation eagerly waits for all of His children to be revealed. Since all of God’s creation is waiting for this day, we should also get excited about this day. Think of it this way, when we have a vacation planned, a date night calendared, a new baby about to arrive, tickets to an event we’ve wanted to attend, an expected promotion in our job, or anything like these, we have an excitement within us looking forward to that day. God wants us to live our lives with a great expectation for the day that He’ll reveal who all of His children are in Christ. That is why God tells us this in Colossians 3:1–4, Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. So, just as God’s creation is awaiting the big “reveal,” we are to set our minds on the things above, where Christ is seated, knowing that when He is revealed, we’ll also get to be revealed with Him. Even though it’s hard to imagine, let’s get our minds refocused because that day is coming.

Challenge & Application

· What did God speak most clearly to you today about where your mind should focus and what should excite you? · How are you living your life differently, knowing that the day of our Lord is coming soon?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 3

Today God shows us that His creation is suffering. In Romans 8:20, we read, For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it. God says that His entire creation was subjected to His curse. To understand this, we must read Genesis 3, where God declared the consequences of Adam’s sin. In Genesis 2, G...

Day 4

As we examine Romans 8:21, we have to be sure and tie in Romans 8:20, for together God’s Word says, 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. So...

Day 5

As we saw yesterday, God is going to create a new heaven and a new earth, and death and decay will no longer exist. But while we wait for that day, God tells us that His entire creation “groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.” God uses the pains a mother goes through in childbirth as an example of the pain His creation...

Day 6

As believers, our hope cannot be set on anything in this life because nothing in this world as we know it is going to last (2 Peter 3:7, 2 Peter 3:10–13, Matthew 24:35, Revelation 21:1). But we have hope because of Christ in us, knowing He has set us free from sin’s power and penalty. The hope we have in Christ is how we were saved by placing...

Day 7

As we finish this week, we continue to see how our hope in Christ is the only hope worth holding onto. God tells us in Romans 8:25, But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. As we wait for our Lord’s return or for Him to call us home, God reminds us that we must wait patiently and confidently. We wait pa...
