Day 2

Scripture to Read: Exodus 8:1–15

Today, God said to Moses, in Exodus 8:1–3, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Let My people go, that they may serve Me. 2 But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite your whole territory with frogs. 3 The Nile will swarm with frogs, which will come up and go into your house and into your bedroom and on your bed, and into the houses of your servants and on your people, and into your ovens and into your kneading bowls.”’ It’s hard for us to imagine hundreds of thousands of frogs covering the land of Egypt. God did not just have the frogs covering the land, but they were in the houses, bedrooms, and even the ovens. Again, we see in Exodus 8:7, “The magicians did the same with their secret arts, making frogs come up on the land of Egypt.” As we will see later, the spiritual forces of darkness are powerful but limited in power. But for now, we must remember God’s truth in 2 Corinthians 4:3–4, “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” The enemy sought (and still seeks) to blind people to God’s awesome power. We must continually seek God and His Word (Psalms 119:9–11) so this world does not blind us.

Challenge & Application

· What are some ways you have seen the enemy blind people to God’s glory found in Christ? · How have you been blinded at times to God and His Truth by the things this world offers us?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

We focus on the next nine plagues God sent upon the land of Egypt this week. As a reminder, Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and calloused before God began to use Moses and Aaron in Pharaoh's life to free the nation of Israel. So, as God worked, the condition of Pharaoh’s heart continued to harden rather than soften. God told Moses, in Exodus 7:1...

Day 3

Today, we read about the third and fourth plagues, the plagues of the gnats and flies. God did not send Moses to speak to Pharaoh before the gnats came. God said to Moses, in Exodus 8:16, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the earth, that it may become gnats through all the land of Egypt.’” Also, as I mentioned in y...

Day 4

God continued His plagues on Egypt, and as He did, Pharaoh continued to harden his heart. We have discussed this already, but, as a reminder, God did harden Pharaoh’s heart, and Pharaoh hardened his own heart. It was not one or the other, but it was both. God warns us, “Do not harden your hearts” in Hebrews 3:8—so, we know it’s possible to ha...

Day 5

God continued bringing His plagues on Pharaoh and all of the Egyptians. As God spoke to Moses and Aaron, He told them, in Exodus 9:8–9, “Take for yourselves handfuls of soot from a kiln, and let Moses throw it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh. 9 It will become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and will become boils breaking out with...

Day 6

Remember from yesterday’s devotion that God had sent Moses to talk to Pharaoh. God had Moses proclaim that all the plagues had been happening to show Pharaoh and the Egyptians that no one was like God in all the earth. God also had Moses say to Pharaoh, in Exodus 9:17, “Still you exalt yourself against My people by not letting them go.” Phara...

Day 7

Today, God sent two more plagues on Pharaoh and the Egyptians—the first is the plague of locusts. In Exodus 10:7–9, it seems that Pharaoh’s servants almost persuade Pharaoh to let Israel go. But Pharaoh’s heart remained prideful, as stated in this question in Exodus 10:3, as God had Moses ask Pharaoh, “How long will you refuse to humble yours...
