Day 6

Scripture to Read: Genesis 1:4-31

So, from what God taught us yesterday, we know that dinosaurs and all other animals, including man, were created as herbivores in God’s original creation. Nothing in God’s original creation ate meat. Also, we know from reading Genesis that man and animals alike lived a long time. Sin definitely brought death to this world, but the effects of sin took quite a long time to shorten the life span of man and animal. Dinosaurs are a kind of lizard, and it is a scientific fact that some lizards grow as long as they live. Since man lived 100’s of years in God’s original creation, so would dinosaurs (translated means “terrible lizard”). There are still types of lizards on this planet, but none as big as the dinosaurs before the flood. Because of sin, death has affected all of God’s creation, including the “terrible lizard.” For us, we must know God’s Truth to combat the lies that are being taught in this world. We also must share Christ, for He is the answer to the death that came into this world in Genesis 3. God clearly tells us in Hebrews 12:1-2, …let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Our focus must stay on our Lord Jesus Christ.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about the effects of sin and where we must stay focused? 2. How are you keeping focused on Christ and His Word every day?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

We begin this new series in the book of Genesis. The word “genesis” means “origin” or “beginning.” We know that God used Moses to write Genesis and the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Genesis was first written to the people of Israel. It is important for us to understand why Israel would need all of this information that...

Day 2

In the beginning, the earth had no shape and there was nothing but darkness. We read in Genesis 1:2, The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Incredibly, in the middle of absolute darkness, God created light and the light shone brightly, cu...

Day 3

We know, or we should know, that creation had a precise order and structure. The idea that creation came to exist merely by random events is simply not logical. The first three days of creation were foundational for sustaining everything that would be created the last three days. As we saw yesterday, on Day 1 God created light. We do not know...

Day 4

As we saw yesterday, there was no death in this world before Adam’s sin. Many struggle with the fact that dinosaurs and man lived at the same time. But when we examine God’s Word, we can see that there would have been no problem with dinosaurs and man existing at the same time. We will unpack this truth as we continue to examine God’s origina...

Day 5

As we began to look yesterday at how “good” God’s original creation was, it is easy to see that man and animal lived in perfect harmony for a while. God created a holy foundation reflecting His own nature. As we know, God ALONE is Good and Holy. God declares His holiness throughout His Word and 1 John 1:5 is a great example, for God’s Word sa...

Day 7

One other phrase God used in His “Creation Account” is the phrase, …each according to its kind” or “…according to their kinds.” We find this phrase used in Genesis 1:11, 12, 21, 24, and 25. Why is this so important? Because God wanted us to know that all of the creatures He created were made in the likeness of “its own kind.” But, when it com...
