Day 6

Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 15:51–53

God had Paul give a little insight into the moment when Christ will resurrect His children. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:51–53, “Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.” God allowed Paul to describe this beautiful moment in time when Jesus will gather His children to Himself for the glorified bodily resurrection. God had Paul write about this same event in 1 Thessalonians 4:15–18. Our Lord Jesus Christ, in an instant, in the blink of an eye, as soon as God the Father tells Him it’s time, will gather all of the Christians to Himself in the clouds. This event has been called the rapture after the Latin word for “caught up,” which is found in 1 Thessalonians 4:17. That day is still to come. It will happen when God’s eternal plan all comes together. God will give every follower of Christ their glorified resurrected bodies at that moment. Every redeemed soul through the centuries will be gathered together, even those still on the earth at that time will rise up to meet the Lord in the clouds and will receive their glorified resurrected bodies. Those who are with the Lord now (2 Corinthians 5:8) await their final resurrection body, but no doubt, they are with Him.

Challenge & Application

As Christians, what do we get to look forward to if Christ comes for His bride while we’re still here on earth? What are the saints who are currently present with the Lord looking forward to when Christ gathers His bride?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

In 1 Corinthians 15, God had Paul answer questions the believers in Corinth had about the glorified bodily resurrection that will happen to everyone who surrenders to Christ as Lord. God wanted all the saints to have a good picture of what’s to come. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:35–38, “But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with ...

Day 2

God continued to have Paul point out that not all bodies are the same. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:39–41, “All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fish. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and...

Day 3

We know that our earthly bodies inherited the consequence of sin, which is death. We also know that sin always results in death (Romans 1:32, Romans 5:12, Romans 6:16, Romans 6:21, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:6, Galatians 6:8). But the Good News through Christ is that we can have abundant and eternal life. God had Paul write this in 1 Corinthians 1...

Day 4

God had Paul go all the way back to the first man, Adam, to help the believers in Corinth (and us today) to understand the difference between the natural and the spiritual. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:45–49, “So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritua...

Day 5

The whole mystery of the resurrection boils down to what God had Paul write in 1 Corinthians 15:50, “Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.” God reminds the believers in Corinth that there is a difference between the perishable and the imperishable. J...

Day 7

God wanted to ensure that every believer understands that a day is coming when death will be no more. God had Paul write in 1 Corinthians 15:54–58, “But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, ‘Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O ...
