Day 7

Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 15:54–58

God wanted to ensure that every believer understands that a day is coming when death will be no more. God had Paul write in 1 Corinthians 15:54–58, “But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, ‘Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” What a glorious day it will be when death is finally swallowed up forever. The reason death is so hard for us to understand and grasp is because God created us as eternal beings. God designed us to live forever, but sin brought death into this world and into our lives. We read in Ecclesiastes 3:11 that God “has also set eternity in their heart.” God has given us this mysterious longing to live forever and nothing can satisfy this longing except God alone through our Lord Jesus Christ. It is through Christ that we have the victory over death. This is why we must live every day being strong in the Lord. We must daily serve our Lord by walking according to His Word, knowing that nothing we do for Him is ever useless.

Challenge & Application

What would you say is the greatest victory of our Lord and why? How are you striving to serve our Lord each day knowing that nothing you do for Him is worthless?

Day 1

In 1 Corinthians 15, God had Paul answer questions the believers in Corinth had about the glorified bodily resurrection that will happen to everyone who surrenders to Christ as Lord. God wanted all the saints to have a good picture of what’s to come. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:35–38, “But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with ...

Day 2

God continued to have Paul point out that not all bodies are the same. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:39–41, “All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fish. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and...

Day 3

We know that our earthly bodies inherited the consequence of sin, which is death. We also know that sin always results in death (Romans 1:32, Romans 5:12, Romans 6:16, Romans 6:21, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:6, Galatians 6:8). But the Good News through Christ is that we can have abundant and eternal life. God had Paul write this in 1 Corinthians 1...

Day 4

God had Paul go all the way back to the first man, Adam, to help the believers in Corinth (and us today) to understand the difference between the natural and the spiritual. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:45–49, “So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritua...

Day 5

The whole mystery of the resurrection boils down to what God had Paul write in 1 Corinthians 15:50, “Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.” God reminds the believers in Corinth that there is a difference between the perishable and the imperishable. J...

Day 6

God had Paul give a little insight into the moment when Christ will resurrect His children. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:51–53, “Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, ...

Day 7
