Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 6:18
Sometimes, God makes it clear, so there’s no doubt about what He is commanding us to do. God had Paul write this in 1 Corinthians 6:18, “Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.” Instead of running towards our sexual fantasies, God tells us clearly that we must run away from all forms of sexual immorality. That includes running away from sexually immoral thoughts as well as behavior, and it includes things that are sexually immoral visually or even in written form. God also reminded the Christians in Corinth (and us) that all other sins that mankind commits are outside the body, but anyone who is committing sins of sexual immorality is sinning against their own body. Our society today promotes sexual immorality through books, popular television shows, and movies. Too many Christians have become so numb to sexual immorality that when it is seen through a TV show or movie, it does not even bother them anymore, but they simply see it as entertainment. God knows how powerful our minds are, and that is why He tells us to run away from any type of sexual immorality. God knows the devastation that any sin will bring, for He tells us in James 1:15, “when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.” But sexual sins have a rare effect on the body. Therefore, sexual sins have a physical effect as well as a moral and spiritual effect, so be sure and flee.
