Day 3

Scripture to Read: Luke 12:6–10

Jesus also made it clear how precious every human is to God. God had Luke record in Luke 12:6–7, “Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.” When anyone goes through hard times, they often feel alone and even abandoned, not just by people but even by God. The enemy loves to whisper in Christians’ ears that they are not worthy of God’s love nor are they worthy to be called His child. When facing persecution it’s even worse, for Christians can feel totally forgotten by God. Jesus uses the illustration of sparrows to show that God never forgets them and cares for them. If God loves even the sparrows, then we can know and trust that He loves us even more and will take care of us. Also, God is so intricately involved in our lives that He knows the number of hairs on our heads. If God knows that about us, He also intimately knows everything else about us. Jesus also spoke in Luke 12:8–10 about confessing Him or denying Him. The test to confess or deny Jesus before men can take many forms, but it boils down to fearing man or fearing God. When we fear God above all else, then the fear of man is diminished to nothing. But to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit is unforgivable because this is when a person makes a final decision to reject God’s truth.

Challenge & Application

Why should we never doubt God’s love and care for us? How do we guard our hearts from denying Jesus before men and living wholeheartedly for Him?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 6

Jesus warned against covetousness, then, Jesus said this in Luke 12:22–23, “For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.” Greed and worry are both incredible stumbling blocks for anyone.
