Day 4

Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 2:9

God continued to reveal through Paul why the rulers of their day and people today miss that Jesus is the Christ, the One True Messiah. God had Paul quote from Isaiah 64:4 as he wrote in 1 Corinthians 2:9, “but just as it is written, ‘Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.’” What God revealed through Paul was that many people had not seen, heard, nor could they even imagine what God had prepared for anyone who would choose to love Him and surrender to Christ as Lord. When people refuse to listen to the good news of Christ, they are choosing to remain spiritually blind, deaf, and close-minded to anything God has to offer them. The good news is that, according to John 16:8–11, we know that through His Holy Spirit, God is convicting every lost soul. God is doing this so that every lost soul has the opportunity to come to the understanding of their sinfulness and their need for Christ, that righteousness is only possible through a surrendered life to Christ, and that there is an undeniable judgment still to come. As we share Christ with people, we can know that the Holy Spirit will speak through us (Ephesians 6:19–20). We can also rest assured that the Holy Spirit has been convicting them. Many will refuse Christ, but that does not nullify our Lord’s command (Matthew 28:19–20, Acts 1:8) for us to obey.

Challenge & Application

Why is it impossible for lost people to see, hear, or imagine what God has prepared for those who choose to love and follow Him? What must we make sure we do each day as we walk with Christ?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

When God sent Paul to Corinth, Paul knew that all he had to offer was the message of Christ as crucified, dead, buried, and risen, and that life is found in Him alone. Day 2

When we consider the Apostle Paul, one characteristic that never comes to mind is thinking of Paul as weak, timid, or fearful. Day 3

God had Paul clarify for the believers in Corinth where his wisdom came from. We read in 1 Corinthians 2:7, “but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory.” God had Paul speak of His mystery. This mystery was God the Father’s plan to send our Lord Jesus Christ to earth to live a p...

Day 6

God has given us His Holy Spirit to know all God the Father desires us to know. God had Paul write it this way in 1 Corinthians 2:11–13, “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the ...

God had Paul write this in 1 Corinthians 2:14–16, “But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. 16 For who has known the mind of t...
