Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 2:11–13
God has given us His Holy Spirit to know all God the Father desires us to know. God had Paul write it this way in 1 Corinthians 2:11–13, “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.” So, it’s impossible for anyone to know another person’s thoughts except that person. The same is true about God’s thoughts; no one knows them except His Holy Spirit. The good news is that every Christian has received the Holy Spirit, and because we have, we can know the amazing, awesome, wonderful gifts God has given us as His children. As God led Paul and the other 39 writers to write His Word over that 1,500-year period of time, God used them to reveal His Word as was given to them by the Holy Spirit. God the Holy Spirit gave them the words to unpack spiritual truths so we can walk in obedience to God and live “in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10).
