Scripture to Read: Luke 4:14–15
God had Luke share this with us in Luke 4:14–15, “And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread through all the surrounding district. 15 And He began teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all.” Remember that Jesus had fasted for forty days and nights, was continually tempted by the devil, and was victorious over the devil. Jesus never lost focus on what He had come to do. Relying fully on the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus went back to Galilee to carry out His ministry. We know Jesus was already full of the Spirit (Luke 4:1), but God made sure Luke recorded that Jesus continued to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit after experiencing victory over temptation. God wants us to do the same. God wants us continually filled with the Holy Spirit. God tells us in Ephesians 5:18, “And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.” God wants us to always rely on His Spirit so that we can do His will by His strength and for His glory. Being filled with the Holy Spirit means we must willingly crucify all of our fleshly desires so that we are not desiring anything of our flesh but fulfilling what God has designed us to do. We see that Jesus began teaching and was actually welcomed by all. At this early point in His ministry, Jesus had not yet encountered opposition from the people, but the enemy was indeed working and opposition was inevitable.

Since we are to be filled with the Holy Spirit each day, what does that look like for us as Christians?
How do you ensure that you are filled with the Spirit each day?
