Scripture to Read: Colossians 3:1–4
Through Christ, all Christians have been given so much; therefore, we must make the daily decision to passionately pursue Him and His Word. God tells us in Colossians 3:1–4, “Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.” God challenges us to “seek the things above” every day. We do this when we “set our minds on the things above.” God wants us focused on Him and His Word. That is why God tells us in Philippians 4:8, “…whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” God and His Word are “true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, excellent, and worthy of praise,” and nothing in this world even comes close. We choose to obey what God says because when we surrendered to Christ as Lord, according to Colossians 3:3, we died, and our real life was hidden with Christ in God. The good news is that our hidden life will one day be revealed with Christ in glory, but until then, we must stay focused on God, His Word, and obey Him.
Challenge & Application
Why must we continually seek the things above, and what does that look like each day?
What does it mean that our lives are hidden with Christ in God? (See Ephesians 2:6 for some help.)
